
Women's Tennis Enters ACC Tournament As Sixth Seed

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The #28 Wake Forest women's tennis team will face Virginia Tech in the first round of the ACC Tournament this weekend at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C. The Demon Deacons enter the weekend as the sixth seed, while the Hokies are the 11th seed.
Earlier in the year, the two teams met and Wake Forest emerged victorious with a 7-0 sweep of the Hokies on April 9. Closing out the regular season with a 12-9 overall record and a 5-5 mark in the conference, the Deacs are led by senior Karin Coetzee and Alex Hirsch. Playing together in doubles for the majority of the season, the two are ranked #15 nationally, and have compiled a 11-2 overall mark, including an 8-2 ACC record. In singles, Coetzee is ranked #28 and will play in the No. 1 position, while Hirsch will play at No. 3.
The Hokies enter the ACC tournament with a 7-16 overall record and a 0-10 mark in the conference. Led on the court by Anat Elazari, the junior from Tiberias, Ill. has compiled a 20-17 overall singles record and an 8-13 mark in the conference, playing at the No. 1 position.
