Men's Tennis Falls to Georgia Tech, 4-3

Atlanta, Ga. - After winning two out of their three doubles matches, No. 30 Wake Forest dropped four singles matches in a close contest with No. 37 Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets got the 4-3 win over the Deacs. Wake Forest falls to 12-5 (4-3 ACC), while Georgia Tech improves their record to 10-7 (2-4 ACC).
The match began with the Deacs dominating Georgia Tech in doubles action. The top-seeded doubles team of Derrick Spice and Brett Ross defeated David North and Marko Rajevac, 8-2. Meanwhile, Marius Adamski and Andrew Hamar took out Noah Tyler and Scott Blackmon, 8-2. The doubles duo of Joe Bates and Todd Paul fell to Jose Luis Muguruza and Sukhwa Young, 8-6.
In last Tuesday's match against Clemson, No. 82 Paul pulled an upset singles victory over No. 18 Nathan Thompson. Paul clinched another huge win today over Georgia Tech's No. 21 Muguruza, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3. The other singles win for the Deacs was claimed by Ross over Rajevac, 6-3, 7-5.
As Wake Forest's second-seeded player, Spice fell to North in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. No. 79 Hamar was defeated by the Yellow Jacket's Zachary Rath, 6-1, 6-4. Adamski, the Deacs' fifth-seeded player, lost to Jordan Delass, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. In the final singles match of the day, Charles Sartor was defeated by George Gvelesiani in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Wake Forest's next match will be at home on Friday, April 8, against North Carolina. The match will begin at 3:00pm at the Leighton Tennis Center.
