Spice To Kick Off NCAA Singles Tournament on Wednesday

College Station, Texas -- Wake Forest senior Derrick Spice has drawn California junior Conor Niland for his first round match in the NCAA Singles Tournament on Wednesday morning. The match is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m., central time, at Texas A&M's home facility in College Station.
The two players have never met.
Spice, ranked 47th nationally, is making his second career NCAA Singles Tournament appearance. Spice is coming to the end of his collegiate career with major momentum on his side. The native of North Olmsted, Ohio, has won seven of his last nine singles matches. In his last eight matches against nationally-ranked opponents, Spice has won seven.
Niland is the nation's 13th-ranked player. He has a record of 5-9 against top-30 players.
Spice owns a 18-16 record this season. He has 89 career singles wins, the 5th-most in Wake Forest history.
The winner of the first round match between Spice and Niland will play the winner of Jonathan Chu of Harvard and Pedro Rico of Pepperdine. The second round starts Thursday.
