Track Finishes Competition At Duke Twilight

Durham, NC - The Wake Forest men's and women's track teams competed Sunday at the Duke Twilight at the Wallace Wade Stadium. Brad Wharton and the men's 4x100 meter relay team reached regional qualifying marks, while Liz Hankinson and Kerri Norton set personal bests in their events.
Hankinson, a freshman from Summit, N.J. ran the 1500 meter race in her record time 4:44.69. Classmate Norton peaked at 10-06.00 in the pole vault.
Kayla Gassmann captured third place in the javelin, with a season best throw of 124-09.
Brad Wharton ran his season best 3:48.17 in the 1,500 meter race. The time was just enough to earn a regional qualifying mark and it was Wharton and the Deacons' best performance in that event this season.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team combined for a 40.52. It was the group's best time this season, a regional qualifying mark and a hair shy of the school record 39.95
Jesse Richert matched a season best 6-07.50 in the high jump to clinch first place in the event.
The Deacons will compete at the Tiger Combined Events in Clemson, SC and the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., this week before the NCAA Regionals May 27-28.
