Track Coach Matt Kerr Qualifies For World Championships

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Assistant track and field coach Matt Kerr qualified for the 2005 International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Championships which will be competed in Helsinki, Finland next month.
Kerr qualified for the Canadian national team by running a career personal best time of 8:20.14 in the 3000 meter steeplechase last Saturday at the KBC Night of Athletics in Belgium. Kerr will compete for the second time in the IAAF World Championships.
"We're really proud of our coach," said director of track and field Annie Bennett. "It is an exciting and great experience for him."
Kerr will compete on Sunday, August 7, in the heats and if he qualifies will run on Monday, August 8 in the finals.
