Winston-Salem, NC - Wake Forest sophomore running back Micah Andrews was named ACC Offensive Back of the Week by a vote of the league's media on Tuesday.
Andrews' 254 rushing yards against Vanderbilt went into the Wake Forest record books as the second-best single day performance by a running back in school history. The 254 yards came on 34 carries, an impressive average of 7.5 per attempt. Andrews, native of Duluth, Ga., and graduate of Greater Atlanta Christian High School, also made one catch for 33 yards.
The 254 rushing yards and 278 all-purpose yards were the second-most by any player nationally this week.
For Andrews, it was only his second career start. Andrews became the eighth player to rush for 200 yards in a Deacon uniform and it was the 10th time it happened in school history. His previous career best was a 17-carry, 125-yard, three touchdown game against North Carolina A&T last September.
Georgia Tech tackle Brad Honeycutt was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week, Florida State defensive end Kamerion Wimbley and Maryland linebacker D'Qwell Jackson share the defensive line award, Virginia Tech strong safety Aaron Rouse earned defensive back of the week honors, Clemson placekicker Jad Dean was the specialist of the week and Clemson running back James Davis was the league's rookie of the week.
