Women's Tennis Opens Season Against Purdue

WINSTON-SALEM. N.C. - The No. 24 Wake Forest women's tennis team will open its season and seven-match homestand against Purdue, Friday, Jan. 27. The first serve is scheduled at the Indoor Tennis Center is set for 4 p.m.
The Demon Deacons will return redshirt-sophomore Alex Hirsch and junior Ashlee Davis, both nationally ranked players. Hirsch, the No. 42 singles player, compiled a team-best 10-2 record in the fall. Davis is ranked as the No. 64 singles player and closed out the fall with a 6-3 record.
Also returning for the Demon Deacons will be junior Blakely Offutt and sophomore Jenna Loeb. Offutt, a native of Charlotte, N.C., finished the short season with an 8-4 singles mark. Loeb also finished the tournament season with an 8-4 singles record, while compiling a 9-4 mark in doubles.
Wake Forest will welcome four newcomers to the squad, including Ana Jerman, Christian Tara, Sierra Poske and junior transfer Christine Simpson.
