
Hirsch and Davis Continue To Advance In Consolation Singles Draw

Los Angeles, Calif. - Wake Forest women's tennis players Ashlee Davis and Alex Hirsch both won their respective singles matches to advance in the third round of the consolation draws at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Qualifier, Wednesday afternoon.
Davis defeated Ela Kaluder of Arkansas, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6, and will next face Roxanne Clarke of Arizona State on Thursday. On Tuesday, Davis defeated Randi Schuler of Purdue 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the first round of the consolation draw.
Hirsch advanced to the third round with a close three set victory over Yvette Hyndman of Georgia. The Atlanta, Ga., native won the first set, 7-5, fell in the second, 5-7, and then won the final set, 7-5. Hirsch will next face Ekaterina Burduli of Washington State. If both Hirsch and Davis win tomorrow, they will face each other in the next round.
Sophomores Christian Tara and Ana Jerman, who had advanced to the qualifying bracket with three victories in the prequalifier, fell in the first round of the consolation draw to Lyssenko/Tsan of Sacramento State, 8-2.
After this tournament, the Demon Deacons return to the east coast and next play in the ITA Southeast Regional hosted by North Carolina. The three day tournament begins on Oct.12.
