
Women's Tennis Sweeps Charlotte, 7-0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 25 Wake Forest women's tennis team easily won the doubles point and swept the singles for the second consecutive week, to cruise past Charlotte, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
The Demon Deacons improve to 2-0 on the season, while the 49ers drop to 0-2.
In singles, three players defeated their opponents in straight sets, including No. 64 Ashlee Davis, who defeated Kathy Robey, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Freshman Sierra Poske played in the No. 5 position and defeated Michelle Alexander, 6-3, 6-3, while Christine Simpson defeated Yana Stoeva, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6.
In doubles action, Wake Forest cruised past Charlotte, winning all three matches. In the No. 1 position, Alex Hirsch and Davis paired up for the 8-1 victory over Ofra Freidman and Ashleigh Murray. At No. 2 Ana Jerman and Christian Tara also defeated their opponents, 8-1, while in the third position, Jenna Loeb and Blakely Offutt defeated Robey and Alexander, 8-4.
The Demon Deacons, who have yet to drop a singles match, will play three matches in the coming week. They will begin on Thursday, Feb. 9 against Tennessee and then host Notre Dame and Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 11 and Sunday, Feb. 12. All three matches will be played at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
