Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser
On Boston College:
"Boston College is a very good team. We prepared hard for them. We thought zone would be good and we didn't do a good job of finding Rice and when we did find him we sort of looked at him while he handed us a three. We went to man to man in the second half because of his shooting ability, but we were unable to guard them without fouling. It's a bit mystifying that we were such a good rebounding team; that was the one thing we could hang our hat on."
On the Demon Deacon free throw shooting:
"Our free throw shooting hurts us because we are trying to cut into a lead or we are struggling to score shooting from the field anyway, when we get free opportunities we don't make them."
On Tyrese Rice:
"I thought Tyrese Rice was excellent. We knew he could be. It's not like it was a shock or someone we didn't talk about in the scouting report."
On the lack of effort of the boards:
"[Rebounding] is always something we have done well. We are doing a lot of the same drills and putting the same emphasis on it in practice. We spent a lot of time on rebounding in the last two days. I have to coach them better."
On the crowd: "I was proud of the people who came tonight. Especially the upper deck was almost filled except for the sections behind the baskets. I would be less than honest if I didn't say I appreciate that. As I told the players I don't have too many speeches in my bag for a team that's 1-9. I am appreciative of the support of so many people that I think have become Wake Forest basketball fans in the past two years have given us and that was gratifying."
Boston College Head Coach Al Skinner
On Tyrese Rice:
"He was really excited about playing down here. He had some family members here. When you play a zone and give him an opportunity to get good looks at the basket, he's going to put the ball in the basket. He felt good at practice and shoot around this morning. Obviously, it has given us a big lift. You have to keep a guy in front of him. If you don't, then he feels pretty good about letting it go, and his teammates feel good about him letting it go."
On the missed free throws at the end:
"I thought it happened because we started to relax. We thought the game was over. Because of that, it makes it very difficult to get it back. Unfortunately we've seen this happen before, but today was different than previous games. Today, we just started to relax and thought the game was over. Different people got to the free throw line. We have a bunch of excuses for it, but the fact of the matter is you have to stay in the game and stay focused for 40 minutes. You have to be prepared to go to the line and make your free throws and we were not that, especially the last two or three minutes of the ballgame."
On Wake Forest:
"We knew the crowd was going to be behind them. I think they have tremendous support for them. I think they have some outstanding players on this team. I had no doubt that they were going to come out and play and be competitive. They really worked their tails off. It wasn't unexpected. It would have been unexpected if they didn't do it. Regardless of what their record is, I still think they're a pretty good basketball team."
