Men's Track and Field Captures Aggie Team Challenge

*Greensboro**, N.C. - *The Wake Forest men's track team won the 2006 Aggie Team Challenge on Saturday scoring 123 points in the seven team field. Wake Forest edged out host school North Carolina A&T by 13 points. The women's team placed sixth out of eight teams at the same meet.
Freshman Brent LaRue set a new school record in the 400 meter hurdles running a time of 53.32. His mark, good for second place in the event, broke the school record previously held by Branston Williams who ran a time of 54.10 in 2002. LaRue also placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.88 seconds. In the javelin throw, LaRue placed second with a throw of 44.20 meters.
Senior Mike Loyd captured the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.75. Kerry Major placed fourth in the event with a time of 10.79 seconds. In the men's 200 meter dash, senior Willie Idlette placed fourth with a time of 22.31 seconds, while Loyd placed one spot behind Idlette with a time of 22.35 seconds.
In the 400 meter dash, senior Eric Seely placed first with a time of 48.31 seconds. Sophomore Aaron Russell placed seventh with a time of 50.52 seconds and earned two points.
Junior Michael Fernback shaved over two seconds off his personal best in the 800 meter dash en route to winning the event with a time of 1:55.35. Senior Westin Galloway placed second in the event with a time of 1:55.61. Ben Ryan also scored in the event placing sixth with a time of 1:58.59.
Sophomore Michael Bingham placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.19 and freshman Philip Warsaw placed sixth with a time of 54.71.
On the women's side, Ashley Spooner ran a time of 12.79 in the 100 meter dash placing in 11^th place. The sophomore also placed 19^th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.71 seconds.
Molly Kennedy also competed in the 200 meter dash placing 14^th with a time of 26.50 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, Brittany White placed in eighth with a time of 59.57 seconds.
Senior Ariel Meyers placed seventh in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:22.22. Jamie Sobolewski placed two spots behind in ninth with a time of 2:24.01, and sophomore Carter Ellis, competing in her first meet placed 10^th in the event with a time of 2:24.42.
In the 100 meter hurdles, sophomore Melissa Council placed fifth with a time of 14.77 seconds. In the 400 meter hurdles, Michelle Duffy placed third running a time of 1:03.02.
Jill Ahrens placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.35 meters and Kerri Norton finished in fifth with a height of 3.05 meters.
Kennedy recorded a fifth place finish in the long jump recording a distance of 5.11 meters. Catherine Muehlieb placed fifth in the shotput with a distance of 13.03 meters.
Wake Forest dominated the javelin throw placing three in the top four spots. Freshman Carly Mauch easily took the event with a distance of 38.65 meters. Council finished third in the event with a distance of 23.15 meters, and Kennedy placed fourth with a toss of 22.21 meters.
