Women's Golf Finishes Third at Liz Murphey

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished in third at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, firing a three-day total of 910, 46-over par. The Demon Deacons finished seven shots behind host school and team champion Georgia. Auburn placed second, two shots behind the Bulldogs, with a 41-over 905. Wake Forest shot a final round 302 en route to the third place showing. The 54-hole event was contested at the UGA Golf Club.
Junior Mandy Goins finished as the low Deacon firing a final round 73, one-over par. Goins placed in a tie for second with a 54-hole total of 222, six-over par. She finished one shot behind the individual champion, Florida State's Caroline Westrup.
Freshman Nannette Hill added a four-over par 76 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 12th. Hill recorded a three-day total of 226, 10-over par.
Maggie Simons placed in a tie for 16th after firing a 12-over par 228 for the weekend. Simons closed out her final round with a five-over par 77.
Sophomore Laura Crawford fired a four-over par 76 for Wake Forest on Sunday and placed in a tie for 37th at 235, 19-over par. Joining Crawford in the 37th place tie was freshman Jean Chua. Chua shot a five-over par 77 for the Deacs on Sunday.
Wake Forest will next host the Bryan National Collegiate. The event will be contested at Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro and will begin on Friday, March 31st. Results can be found at WakeForestSports.com.
