Women's Golf in Sixth at Bryan National Collegiate

Browns Summit, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished the first round of the Bryan National Collegiate with a 15-over par 303 and currently stands in sixth place out of 17 teams. The 54-hole event hosted by Wake Forest and UNC Greensboro is being contested at Bryan Park Golf Club where par is 72 and yardage is 6,210 yards.
Purdue took the first day lead with a seven-over par 295. Duke, playing with just four players, stands three shots behind the Boilermakers. NC State is third with a total of 299, with Florida and Georgia in a tie for fourth at 300, 12-over par.
Freshman Nannette Hill recorded six birdies en route to firing a one-under par 71. Hill is in a two-way tie for second place after the opening 18 holes.
Freshman Jean Chua and junior Mandy Goins each added five-over par 77 for the Deacs on Friday. After opening with 41 on the front nine, both Chua and Goins fired even par 36 on the back. The two are tied for 30th.
Junior Maggie Simons added a six-over par 78 for Wake Forest. The Raleigh native recorded a pair of birdies, including one on the 17th. Simons stands in a tie for 40th after the first round.
Sophomore Laura Crawford fired a seven-over par 79 for the Deacs. Crawford closed out the day in a tie for 53rd. Fellow sophomore Jordan Craig, competing in the event as an individual, shot an 11-over par 83 for the Deacons.
Duke senior Liz Janangelo led all golfers with a five-under par 67. Janangelo recorded five birdies in the opening six holes to take the first day lead.
