WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Collegiate Baseball and Louisville Slugger today named Wake Forest redshirt junior Brendan Enick their National Player of the Week for his recent offensive explosion.
After not starting seven consecutive games, the designated hitter returned to the lineup and promptly belted his second career grand slam and added a solo bomb in the 18-2 rout of Xavier on Tuesday. He went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and six RBI -- both career-highs.
Enick added three more hits and two RBI in a 7-2 win over Wright State on Saturday. In the series finale with the Raiders, the Pittsburgh, PA native went 4-for-4 with a single-game school record tying three doubles. Enick became just the 14th player in Wake Forest baseball history to register three doubles in one game. He also added two runs scored and four RBI.
Enick finished the week with a .786 (11-for-14) batting average, two home runs and 12 RBI in just three games. He led Wake Forest for the week in batting average (.786), slugging percentage (1.429), on-base percentage (.765), hits (11), RBI (12) and doubles (3).
The Demon Demons return to the diamond this week with a pair of non-conference games. Wake Forest will meet Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Charles L. Watson Stadium in Conway, S.C., and then will return to Hooks Stadium Wednesday for a 2:30 p.m. contest against Elon.
