Women's Golf Finishes Third at ACC Championship

Pinehurst, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team improved to third place out of nine teams at the ACC Championship on Sunday. The Deacons shot a final round score of 10-over par, 298, and recorded a three day total of 914, 50-over par. The 54-hole championship was contested at Pinehurst No. 8. Duke claimed the team title with a 21-over par total of 885. Virginia placed second overall with a 40-over par 904.
Freshman Jean Chua led the way for the Deacons on Sunday firing a one-over par 73. Chua finished with 10-over par total of 226 and finished in a tie for eighth place. Junior Mandy Goins finished one shot behind Chua placing in a tie for 11th. Goins shot a final round 74, two-over par. Junior Maggie Simons added a four-over par 76 in the final round and finished with a three-day total of 232, 16-over. Simons placed in a tie for 19th. Sophomore Laura Crawford added a 75, three-over, in the final round. Crawford finished alone in 37th with a 240, 24-over par. Freshman Nannette Hill added a second consecutive round of six-over par 78 and finished in a tie for 30th. Hill had a 54-hole score of 236, 20-over par.
Wake Forest will next compete in the NCAA East Regional, which will be contested at Bryan Park Golf Course in Brown Summit, N.C. The event will be May 11-13.
