Greensboro, NC - Wake Forest junior Todd Paul was selected to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference men's tennis team, the league office announced Wednesday. Paul becomes only the second three-time All-ACC player in Wake Forest history.
Ranked as high as 10th nationally this year, Paul has played number one singles for the Demon Deacons in 2006, facing some of the nation's best competition. The native of Stamford, Conn., has posted a 25-11 singles record this season, despite playing 27 nationally-ranked opponents.
Seven of Paul's 13 wins this spring have been against nationally-ranked opponents, including victories against seventh-ranked Raian Luchici of North Carolina and 16th-ranked Arnaud Lecloerec of VCU.
Paul's former teammate, Derrick Spice, is the only Wake Forest player to be a three-time All-ACC selection.
Only a junior, Paul is nearing the school's all-time top 10 list for career singles wins. Paul has 73 and needs five more wins to move into the top 10.
The Demon Deacons begin their quest for an ACC Championship on Thursday at the Cary (N.C.) Tennis Center. Wake Forest plays 11th-seeded Maryland at 3:00 p.m.
