
Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Bryan National

Browns Summit, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished the Bryan National Collegiate in fifth place out of 17 teams firing a five-over par 293 on Sunday. The Deacons finished at 35-over par, 899 overall for the tournament. The 54-hole event hosted by Wake Forest and UNC Greensboro was contested at Bryan Park Golf Club (par 72, 6,210 yards).
Georgia won the team title after firing a four-under par final round of 284. The Bulldogs finished at 875, 11-over par. Duke finished second, five-shots behind at 880. Purdue placed third with a team score of 885, Tennessee finished fourth with a score of 890 and the Deacons rounded out the top five.
Nannette Hill led the way for the Deacons firing a one-under par 71 on Sunday. The freshman finished in a tie for third at one-over par 217 (71-75-71). Junior Mandy Goins added an even par round of 72 for the Deacons and finished with a seven-over total of 223. Goins placed in a tie for 16th.
Junior Maggie Simons fired a two-over 74 in the final round and recorded a 54-hole total of 229, 13-over par. Simons finished in a tie for 38th. Freshman Jean Chua recorded a four-over par 76 on Sunday for the Deacs. Chua placed one shot behind Simons in a tie for 41st with a 14-over par 230.
Sophomore Laura Crawford rounded out the Deacons team scoring with a six-over par 78. Crawford finished the tournament with a 24-over par total of 240. Fellow sophomore Jordan Craig competed in the event as an individual firing an eight-over par 80 on Sunday. Craig finished the event with a 54-hole total of 245.
Georgia's Taylor Leon took home the individual title after firing a three-under par 69. Leon finished the event as the only golfer under par with a three-under total of 213.
Wake Forest will next travel to Pinehurst, N.C. to compete in the ACC Championship, April 14-16. The championship will be contested on Pinehurst's No. 8 course.
