Women's Golf Places 15th at NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished the NCAA Championship in 15th place after firing a final round score of 301, 15-over par. The Demon Deacons finished with a 72-hole total of 1211, 59-over par.
The 72-hole event began Tuesday and ended Friday and was contested at the Scarlet Course (par 72, 6203 yards) on the campus of Ohio State.
Duke captured its second consecutive team title with a 15-over par 1167. Southern California was second 10 shots behind. Pepperdine finished third with a 35-over par 1187. Arizona State, 43-over, and California, 48-over, rounded out the top-five.
Junior Maggie Simons shot a team-best two-under par 70 on Friday to lead the Deacons. The Raleigh, N.C., native finished her round with two birdies over the final four holes and finished with a 14-over total of 302. Simons finished in a tie for 43rd.
Freshman Nannette Hill fired a four-over par 76 in the final round and closed the tournament with a 14-over par 302 as well. Hill joined Simons in the tie for 43rd.
Sophomore Laura Crawford shot a five-over par 77 on Friday and had a four-day total of 304, 16-over par. Crawford finished the championship in a tie for 53rd.
Junior Mandy Goins added a final round 78, six-over par and placed in a tie for 68th. Goins fired a 19-over par 307. Freshman Jean Chua added an 80, eight-over par, for the Deacs. Chua finished with a 72-hole total of 310, 22-over par.
Southern California's Dewi Schreefel captured the individual title after firing a final round 69. Schreefel finished the championship with a two-under total of 286.
