Deacons Add Seven Newcomers To Men's Track And Field

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Seven senior high school standouts round out the Wake Forest men's track and field recruiting class for the 2006-07 academic year, head coach Annie Bennett announced today.
The talented group of incoming freshmen include a decathlete, two long sprint/middle distance athletes and four distance athletes. Five are expected to compete for the Demon Deacon cross country team as well as in track and field.

The long sprints and middle distance newcomers include Jonathan Reid (
Reid is the district, regional and provincial champion in the 200m and 400m. He also qualified for the IAAF World Youth Championships. He will compete in the long sprints and the 800m for the Deacons.
The distance group will add incoming freshmen Nicholas Lepley (
Lepley is the member of the state record-holding and three-time state champion 4x800m relay team and is the state runner-up in the 3200m. He earned all-state and all-metro honors and holds multiple school records. Bailey ran on the state champion 4x800m relay team along with Lepley. He holds all-state honors in the 1600m, 800m, 4x800m relay and 4x400m relay. Russell is the younger brother of current Demon Deacon distance runner Mark Russell. Patrick has competed in nine state championships and helped lead his high school cross country team to a runner-up finish at the state cross country championships.
