Wake Forest's Chris Boyles leads Team USA to win over Germany

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest assistant track & field coach Chris Boyles led Team USA to a win over Germany in the Nike Combined Events Challenge Aug. 5-6 in Manhattan, Kan.
Boyles was the top American finisher in the men's decathlon, placing third with 7,672 points.
The U.S. men defeated the Germans by just 57 points, scoring 37,792 points to Germany's 37,735. The win was Team USA's ninth in the 13-year history of the Nike Combined Events Challenge.
Germany's Arthur Abele (7,838 points) and Lars Albert (7,824) finished first and second respectively in the men's individual competition.
The U.S. women were victorious over Germany as well, winning by 97 points. The Americans scored 15,716 points to Germany's 15,619.
