Winston-Salem, N.C. - Steven Forman, one of the nation's top-ranked junior players, has enrolled at Wake Forest and joined the men's tennis team.
Forman graduated from Torrey Pines High School in California in seven semesters and began taking classes at Wake Forest last Wednesday, the first day of the spring semester.
The native of Del Mar, Calif., was ranked most recently as the number three player in his home state. Earlier in his high school career, Forman was ranked as the number one junior player in the nation by the website, tennisrecruiting.net. He was a mainstay in the top 10 nationally during all four years of high school. Forman was a two-time CIF champion and state doubles champion at Torrey Pines under coach Ann Meigs.
Forman chose Wake Forest over Duke, Virginia and Southern Cal. His parents are Michael and Stephanie Forman and he has a sister, Jennifer, who is a sophomore at Wake Forest.
The 24th-ranked Demon Deacons open their spring schedule on Saturday against the University of San Diego. The match is scheduled for noon in Evanston, Ill. Wake Forest plays Northwestern on Sunday.
