WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest returns to action this weekend, hosting ACC rivals Clemson and Georgia Tech. The Demon Deacons will take on the Tigers on Friday at 7 p.m. and then face the Yellow Jackets Saturday at 6 p.m.
Wake enters its match against Clemson at 7-10 overall and 4-4 in the ACC. The Deacs are coming off a four-game loss to No. 13 Duke on Tuesday at Reynolds Gym.
After getting three straight sweeps in conference play Sept. 21-28, Wake Forest has dropped three of its last four matches.
The Deacons are currently tied with Virginia Tech for fifth in the conference standings. Clemson is second in the ACC at 6-0, while Georgia Tech is third at 4-2.
The Tigers come in with an overall mark of 13-2. CU has won nine straight matches, dating back to Sept. 14. Clemson is a perfect 5-0 on the road this season, including a 4-0 record in conference play.
Clemson leads the all-time series with Wake Forest 20-9. The Tigers took both of last year's meetings, earning a four-game win in Winston-Salem and a sweep in Clemson.
Georgia Tech enters its match at Duke on Friday with a record of 10-6 overall. The Yellow Jackets have gone 2-2 over their last four matches, with losses to Virginia and Florida State. Georgia Tech is 4-2 on the road but is 3-1 in conference play.
The Yellow Jackets hold a 20-8 all-time advantage over the Deacons. However, Wake Forest has won two of the last three meetings, including a sweep last season in Winston-Salem. The Deacs also picked up a home win over the Jackets in 2005, snapping a 12-match losing streak in the series.
Wake Forest will return to the court next weekend as it wraps up a five-match homestand with Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Deacs will take on the Cavaliers on Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. and then face the Hokies Saturday at 6 p.m.
