LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Wake Forest men's cross country team placed ninth out of 29 teams at the NCAA Southeast Regionals Saturday afternoon at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.

Freshman Greg Billington led the Demon Deacons, placing 31st with a time of 31:02.50.

Sophomore Marcus Dillon was the next Deacon across the finish line in 43rd with a 31:24.90.

Senior John Compton was only three spots behind Dillon in 46th. Compton ran a 31:27.75.

Redshirt freshman Patrick Russell and freshman Keaton Morgan rounded out the scoring for Wake Forest. Russell was 66th in a time of 31:49.15, and Morgan was 101st in 32:38.75.

The Deacons scored 282 team points on the day.

Sophomore Jeremy Fisico and Matt Owen were sixth and seventh for Wake. Fisico finished 123rd in 33:08.95, and Owen placed 142nd in 33:41.10.

Liberty's Josh McDougal, who finished runner-up at the 2006 Southeast Regionals, took home the individual title by running a 29:30.70. Defending champion Jacob Korir of Eastern Kentucky finished second.

NC State won the 29-team meet with 69 points. Host Louisville was second with 70 points, and William & Mary was third with 74. Wake Forest had the third-best finish out of ACC teams.
