Wake Forest men's golf coach Jerry Haas has announced the signing of a pair of golfers to National Letters of Intent to attend Wake Forest beginning next fall.

Lee Bedford of Cary Christian High School and Daniel Meggs of Charlotte Butler High have each signed with Wake Forest.

Bedford is the top-ranked amateur in the state and recently won the Carolina Junior Championship with an 8-under 202 including a round of 65. Bedford was fourth in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 2A state championship last spring. He won the 1A state individual title in 2006 with a 71-71-142 and was second at the 1A state championship in 2005 with a 151.

Last year, Bedford posted three top 10 finishes in prestigious junior amateur events including taking fifth at the Aldila Junior Classic, eighth at the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands and a tenth place finish at the Randy Wise Junior Open.

Meggs has played in four U.S. Junior Amateurs and was the runner-up at the Carolina Junior Championship last year and won the title in 2005. Meggs took second in the Aldila Junior Classic in 2007 and posted a low round of 69 at the 2007 Bobby Chapman Tournament.

Meggs is ranked 66th in the latest Golfweek/Titleist Performance Index. Bedford is ranked 67th.

"We're very excited about both of these young men coming to Wake Forest," said Haas. "I believe they will prove to be among the best young golfers that Wake Forest has signed in a long time."
