WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team placed five athletes in the Mideast Regional ITA Rankings, including junior Cory Parr, who ranked eighth in individual play.
Parr followed up his 31-9 finish from 2006-07 with an 8-2 mark in the 2007 fall season. The Jerhico, N.Y. native notched three wins over Atlantic Coast Conference opponents, including a straight set win over Sanam Singh of second-ranked Virginia.
Sophomore Steve Forman also made the region's top 20 rankings, placing 18th in the preseason poll. In fall action, Forman finished 7-3 with a trip to the semifinals in UGA's Southern Intercollegiates, the largest and longest running fall event in the South.
Forman also ranked 10th on the doubles chart with sophomore Andrew Brasseaux. The tandem opened the year with a 2-2 record, including an 8-6 win over No. 23 Adam Holmstrom and Niklas Persson of Denver.
Senior Mariusz Adamski and WFU newcomer Carlos Salmon earned a seventh place rank in regional doubles following a 3-1 fall performance. At Wake Forest's first tournament in mid-September, the duo advanced to the finals of the UVA Invitational, defeating 38th ranked Ashwim Kumar and Sasha Ermakov of Harvard along the way.
The entire Wake Forest squad will open the spring season on January 26 at William and Mary. The first Demon Deacon home contest will be against Wisconsin on February 3.
