WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host two games this week, beginning with the College of Charleston on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and wrapping up with Winston-Salem State on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Demon Deacons (9-2) fell 52-44 to Radford in their last outing. The loss snapped the team's seven-game streak that started in the U.S. Virgin Islands on November 22 with a 55-53 win over Indiana.

Sophomore forward Mekia Valentine posted her second-highest career block performance during Sunday's loss, putting up six through 31 minutes. Valentine's highest mark came during the third game of her career on November 14, 2006 vs. Western Carolina, where she blocked nine shots.

The Deacons will look to rebound from the loss when they meet the College of Charleston (4-5) on Wednesday morning. The game marks the two teams' first meeting since the 1992-93 season, where Wake Forest took an 83-59 win in Charleston.

The Cougars opened the season with four consecutive losses, including a 102-58 defeat at North Carolina on November 27. Despite the rocky start, Charleston will enter the game on a three-game win streak, with recent victories over Kennesaw State (70-49), Appalachian State (81-49) and South Carolina State (79-59).

The game will serve as WFU's annual Middle School Day, where local elementary and middle school students are invited to join other fans in supporting the Demon Deacons.

On Friday the Deacons will host Winston-Salem State (0-8) in the battle of the Twin Cities. Last season, after trailing by as much as 14 points in the second half, the Lady Rams came back to send the contest into overtime. The Deacons then outscored WSSU 17-1 in the extra period to set the final score at 82-66.

Last season's meeting was the first time since 1980 that the teams have faced each other on the hardwood. Wake Forest holds a 4-0 advantage since the inaugural meeting in 1979.

Wake Forest will have a nine-day break from competition following the Winston-Salem State game. The team will return to the court on December 30 to face Longwood at 5:30 p.m.
