Wake Forest Head Coach Dino Gaudio
On the win against Air Force
"First of all, I told the kids I'm really, really proud of them. I thought it was a very good win for us. As you grow as a team, you have to play against different styles and obviously, their (Air Force's) style of play is difficult to play against. I thought our kids did a very, very good job of guarding them man-to-man in the second half. Coming into the game, we watched the Washington State tape amongst others. Washington State is just a terrific man-to-man defense team. They're number four in the country. We've seen other tapes where we thought maybe lesser-talented teams than them played a lot of zone and were very effective playing zone against Air Force. That's why we played as much zone as we did. Going down the stretch, we just guarded them. It was man-to-man. I really think that was the difference in the game. Down the stretch, we did a very good job at the defensive end, limiting them to just one shot. I thought Tim Anderson's performance was just outstanding; a terrific player, terrific effort. I'm happy with our guys. Our kids are doing a much better job of taking care of the basketball. I think we had 11 turnovers in the last game and eight today. That's good."
On the fast start for Wake Forest in the game
"Some teams, if you press them and you're extended, they make you pay the price. They'll take the ball to the basket. The court has opened up. So, we wanted to press them a little bit where now we only have to guard them for 18 seconds. Or now we only have to guard them for 22 seconds, not 34. I thought our pressure really helped us. I thought we turned them [Air Force] over a little bit, speeded them up a little bit, and it gave us a momentum boost right before the half."
On Chas McFarland's ejection
"I think the first one was a mouth mistake. I think he said something that he wasn't supposed to say. The second one, according to the official, he [McFarland] waived him off, and that's unacceptable. That's unacceptable. In my opinion, the officials gave him what he deserves. Hopefully, he learns a lesson from it."
Wake Forest Guard Jeff Teague
On Air Force's scoring streak in the first half
"They were really shooting the ball good from the outside so we tried to turn-up the pressure a little bit. They were more relaxed and getting open shots so we turned-up the pressure and got a lot of turnovers."
On the win against Air Force
"This is a big one. We kept fighting. This happened the last game, too. We got down and we kept fighting to get the win at the end."
Wake Forest Forward Cameron Stanley
On his increased role against Air Force
"With guys banged-up, I knew my number was probably going to be called tonight and I just wanted to be ready and I was."
On the difficulties of playing against the Air Force offense
"It took as a little while to get adjusted to the system. Coach Kelsey and our scout guys did a great job of getting us used to the Princeton offense. So, once we got used to it, we pressed them and changed the game a little bit. I think that helped us win the game."
Air Force Head Coach Jeff Reynolds
"I thought when they went into zone in the first half it changed the tempo of the game. They took us out of our rhythm tremendously."
"It was a tale of two of halves for us. We shot the ball well the first half but turned it over uncharacteristically for our team. In the second half we couldn't shoot the ball but we didn't turn the basketball over as much. So we needed to put the two halves together."
"Our kids were really tentative. Wake Forest's size and strength wore them down. This was a good game for us because what we saw tonight is what we are going to see in the Mountain West Conference every night."
