Three members of the 24th-ranked Wake Forest golf team -- senior Matt McLean, sophomore Marc Gladson and freshman Travis Wadkins -- will compete Monday and Tuesday at the Belmont Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn.
While all three will compete for individual honors, Wake Forest will not challenge for the team title.
The 54-hole event will be played Monday and Tuesday at the Old Natchez Country Club. Participants will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday at the par 71, 6,448-yard layout. Representatives from 12 different schools will compete for team and individual honors.
All three Demon Deacons have cracked Wake Forest's rotation at various time during the 2006-07 season. Gladson, while playing on a limited basis, has been impressive as a sophomore. He shot a low of 68 earlier this year and two of his 12 rounds have been under par. McLean has played in two tournaments this season as a senior and Wadkins in one.
Belmont, the host school, is the defending team champion. Tennessee Tech's Scott Stallings won the individual crown a year ago after posting a 7-under par 206.
Wake Forest will resume team play April 7-9 at the U.S. Collegiate Championship in Alpharetta, Ga.
