WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 19th-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team is set to compete at the 19th annual Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships beginning Friday, April 13. Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. will serve as host for the three-day, 54-hole event on its par-72, 6293 yard course.
The Demon Deacon's line-up includes seniors Mandy Goins and Maggie Simons, junior Laura Crawford and sophomores Jean Chua and Nanette Hill.
"We were disappointed in how we played last weekend, but we've regrouped and we're really excited and looking forward to the conference championships," said head coach Dianne Dailey.
Facing cold and windy weather conditions, the Deacs placed 13th out of 18 teams at the Bryan National Collegiate this past weekend.
Last season, Wake Forest had an impressive finish at the conference championships, placing third, behind winner Duke and second-place finisher Virginia. Duke has won the championship from 1996 through 2006 and boasts the most league titles with 14, followed by Wake with three and North Carolina with one.
Chua led the Deacs last year placing eighth with a 226 (75-78-73).
Tee times will be from 8:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on each day of the championship. For the first round, North Carolina, Miami and Boston College will tee-off first, followed by Maryland, Florida State and NC State, which will tee-off at 9:20 a.m. Duke, Virginia and Wake Forest are the third and final group and will tee-off at 10:10 a.m.
The ACC Women's Golf Championship will be available on ACC Select on Sunday, April 15 starting at noon. Live scoring will be available for all three rounds at golfstat.com.
