Wake Forest Earns No. 8 Seed at East Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Wake Forest women's golf team, ranked No. 18 in the latest Golfweek rankings, earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA East Regional, the NCAA announced on Monday. The Demon Deacons will travel to Baton Rouge, La. where they will compete at the University Golf Club at Louisiana State University from May 10-12.
Duke, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) champion, earned the top seed in the East Regional. Four other ACC teams will compete in the regional along with Duke and Wake Forest including sixth-seeded North Carolina, 10th-seeded Virginia, 11th-seeded Florida State, and 15th-seeded North Carolina State.
Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 10-12 to determine the championships field. A total of 324 participants have been selected for the regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals, including eight teams and two individuals from each regional.
The championship finals will be held May 22-25 at the LPGA International Legends Course, in Daytona Beach, Florida, hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Central Florida Sports Commission.
Led by head coach Dianne Dailey, Wake Forest enters regional play seeking its 10th NCAA Championship appearance since 1993.
After taking seventh place in the East Regional last year, the Deacs advanced to the NCAA Championships where they placed 15th at the Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio with Nannette Hill and Maggie Simons leading the squad.
