First Day at the NCAA Championships -
The first in a series of blogs written by senior Mandy Goins. Wake Forest is participating this week at the NCAA Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. Twenty-four teams are competing for the top prize in collegiate golf. Goins gives a behind-the-scenes look at traveling with the Deacs.
Hey Everybody! Earlier this afternoon, the team arrived in Daytona Beach, Florida for the NCAA Championships!! The day started early this morning when everybody left to catch their planes, then we all met up in Atlanta to fly together to Daytona. Since we were all coming from different places, we were hoping that everyone would make it there on time. Everyone is really excited to play this week, especially after our good play last week at Regionals. We're hoping to prove to everyone that we're one of the best teams in the nation! We were all really excited when we checked into our rooms and saw that they are overlooking the ocean! The weather was perfect today and the view from our rooms is even better. We're looking forward to spending some of our extra time at the pool and on the beach! The coaches had a meeting tonight so the rest of us walked down the street to a local restaurant for dinner. As usual, we all had a few laughs at Maggie who always finds a way to lighten things up and be silly. After dinner, we just came back to the rooms and spent the night watching a couple of our favorite chick flicks on tv. We also had to make a special trip to the hotel store because I forgot my toothbrush and Maggie had to get her daily dose of ice cream. Somebody always seems to forget something. We've been anxiously awaiting the results of the Men's Regional tournament and have been busy hitting refresh on our computers to check golfstat. We'll be getting up early tomorrow for our first look at the course since the Preview tournament in the fall. Should be another nice day!
Prediction: Nannette forgot at least one of her uniform shirts.
