WAKE FOREST HEAD COACH Rick Rembielak
Your thoughts on the new format of tournament play...
"I like the format here. You know you're going to play in all three games. What you want to do is win all three games and make it easy on yourselves. We've got to play better the next time out. I don't think we caught the ball very well and what we've got to do is finish the innings when you get the opportunity. We opened up too many doors for a very good team tonight."
FLORIDA STATE HEAD COACH MIKE MARTIN
Overall thoughts on the game...
"It was a late one, but that is what happens sometimes and you just can't control it. But today was a great day of baseball and I hope the fans in Jacksonville enjoyed it."
On knowing who you play next...
"I think it is good for everybody to know who you are playing each game. In my opinion, all eight teams in this tournament deserve to be in postseason play."
On the rivalry between Florida State and Miami (next opponent)...
"It is a great rivalry, there is no doubt about it. To say that it is different than the rivalry use to be is incorrect. It is a great rivalry and it is a big game for both schools."
FLORIDA STATE SECOND BASEMAN TONY THOMAS, JR
On opening the tournament with a win...
"Everyone has a fresh start with this bracket play and it was nice to pick up our first win of the tournament. This put us on the right pace for this week. With all of the awards that we picked up throughout the season, we are the team that everyone wants to beat. They will throw their best pitchers at us, but in order to be the best you will have to beat the best."
FLORIDA STATE CATCHER BUSTER POSEY
On the late start tonight...
"It did take a while to get going tonight. We didn't start until around 10 p.m., so it took a while in the time of day and the fact that we didn't score a run until the fourth inning."
On teammate and pitcher Michael Hyde's performance...
"I tell you what - (Mike) Hyde did a great job tonight. I know he's been pressing a little bit, but he's been fighting and he did a great job of pitching the way he can."
