Maggie Simons Falls in of North & South

PINEHURST, N.C. - Recent Wake Forest graduate Maggie Simons cruised into the semifinal of the North & South Amateur Championship held at Pinehurst No. 2, but fell one match short of reaching the finals.
Third-seeded Alison Walshe of Massachusetts beat 10th-seeded Simons 4 & 3. In the other semifinal, Duke's Amanda Blumenherst lost to top-seeded defending champion Jenny Suh of Fairfax, Va., 3 & 2.
Suh and Walshe will play in the 36-hole match-play final today.
Simons won the North Carolina Women's Amateur last month.
