ATLANTA - Wake Forest men's golf standout Webb Simpson won the Dogwood Invitational on June 30th after posting a second consecutive 8-under 63 at the Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta. The Raleigh native finished with a 19-under 265 (69-70-63-63) and finished four strokes ahead of Danny Lee, the New Zealand Amateur champion.

Simpson, who has been the runner-up in the Invitational twice, began the day in fifth place, four shots behind leader Chris Kirk. He quickly moved up after shooting a 5-under on the front nine to move to 16-under par. Kirk finished in fourth at 12-under 272.

Ranked No. 4 in the Golfweek/Titleist Amateur Rankings, Simpson picked up his second major victory of the year. In April, he won the Azalea Amateur.

Simpson started the week off strong as he shot a course record score of 60 before the tournament started.
