Deacons Down Buckeyes 3-0 in Pre-Season Action

Columbus, Ohio - The 22nd-ranked Wake Forest women's soccer team defeated Ohio State 3-0 in the schedule opening scrimmage Tuesday night in Columbus.
The Demon Deacons out shot the Buckeyes 10-3 through two halves plus overtime action.
The Deacons opened the match with a team goal in the 6th minute of play to get on board. Sophomore Sarah Winslow snagged a rebound off Ohio State goalkeeper Lauren Robertson's save in the 32nd minute and routed the ball to junior Whitney Berry who notched WFU's second goal of the night. Winslow followed with another assist in the 68th minute for sophomore Jill Hutchinson who completed the final Deacon tally for the match.
The Deacon defense, anchored by seniors Nichole Lecznar and Kristina Hanley, held the Buckeyes scoreless through the 90 minute scrimmage. Sophomore goalkeeper Laura Morse spent the first of the match in the net, followed by freshman Amanda Barasha.
The Deacons will officially open the season on August 31 in the University of San Diego Tournament.
