SAN FRANCISCO, C.A. - Wake Forest golfer Webb Simpson sits in 32nd place through two rounds of stroke play at the 107th United States Amateur being played at The Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Simpson shot a three-over 73 on the Ocean Course and a one-over 71 on the Lakeside Course for a four-over total of 144.
The field of 312 golfers will be pared to the low 64 scorers following the conclusion of 36 holes of stroke play. Play was suspended late Tuesday.
Fifty-nine golfers will finish their second round on Wednesday morning before a cut to the low 64 scorers will be made for match play. The projected cut stands at seven over par, with 23 golfers still on the course at plus seven or better through 27 holes. The schedule of play was hampered by a four-hour fog delay on Monday morning.
Wake Forest's Brendan Gielow is currently right on the cut line at seven-over 147. Gielow opened with a 74 on the Ocean Course and followed that with a 73 on the Lakeside Course.
WFU's Preston Yates is in 220th place at 15-over 155 following a 74 on the Ocean Course and an 81 on the Lakeside Course.
