Doubles Play Wraps Up at St. Mary's Classic

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Rain halted the day's action pre-maturely, but doubles play was able to wrap up at the St. Mary's Classic, hosted by the University of Tennessee.
WFU tandems of Alex Hirsch/Emilee Malvehy and Sasha Kulikova/Jenna Loeb defeated Purdue teams to advance to the second round of action on the tournament's opening day before falling in the semifinals of the contest.
Juniors Sierra Poske and Christian Tara suffered a loss in the first round to ACC competitors Berkeley Brock and Catherine Grotz of NC State (8-3), but rebounded to defeat Jelena Duricik and Laura Reichert of UNC 9-7 in the first consolation round.
Six Deacons will compete in singles flights on Saturday, set to begin at 9 a.m.
