WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's cross country team returns from a two-week layoff by traveling to Eugene, Ore. for the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Saturday.

The 6k women's race begins at 12:15 p.m. EDT at the Springfield Country Club.

The Demon Deacons will compete in 15-team field that includes Arkansas, BYU, Colorado State, Georgia, Marquette, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland, UCLA, Utah State and UTEP. In addition to Wake Forest, four of the other squads competed at the 2006 NCAA Championships (Arkansas, BYU, Colorado State, Georgia).

Wake Forest is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Boston College Invitational on Sept. 14. Caitlin Chrisman (fifth), Marley Burns (17th) and Nicole Schappert (20th) all turned in top-20 performances for the Deacons.

The Deacs are currently ranked fifth in the Southeast Region. Wake is just out of the top-30 national rankings after receiving votes in the Sept. 25 poll.

The Bill Dellinger Invitational honors the Oregon running legend who was a three-time Olympian and bronze medalist and Hall of Fame Duck coach.

At last season's inaugural Bill Dellinger Invite, the Deacons placed third of 11 teams. Michelle Sikes paced Wake with a second-place finish individually. Chrisman posted a 17th-place performance for the Deacs.

Wake Forest will not compete the following weekend before returning to action at the Penn State Invitational on Friday, Oct. 12. The race in State College, Pa. will be the Deacons' final competition prior to the ACC Championships on Oct. 27.
