WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team fell 85-73 to the Clemson Tigers at the Joel Coliseum on Monday night. Despite the loss, Demon Deacon freshman Camille Collier shined with a career high 20 points.

Clemson's Christy Brown tied Collier for the game high, while WFU's Corinne Groves followed with 18 points. On the glass, Groves and Clemson's D'Lesha Lloyd each had the game high 10 rebounds.

The loss set the Deacons to 12-6 for the season and 0-4 in conference play. The game was the first ACC win for Clemson and the Tigers now sit at 8-10, 1-2.

The game is the second in a row where the Demon Deacons surrendered a win despite holding a lead with ten minutes to play.

"Offensively, this was our best effort of the year," Wake Forest Head Coach Mike Petersen said. "But defensively, we completely lost track of what we were doing. We just can't give up 85 points. For us to win, we have to do a better job defensively."

Wake Forest had slow start, letting Clemson claim a 9-1 lead before Alex Tchangoue had the first field goal of the night at the 17:14 mark. With a 29-32 deficit with four minutes in the first half, Christen Brown and Camille Collier each hit 3-pointers to tie the game for the first time at 32-32.

The Deacons clung to a 2-point lead with a minute in the half, but Clemson snagged a WFU rebound with less than ten seconds remaining and Lele Hardy hit a buzzer-beater 3-pointer to put Clemson up 42-41 going into the locker room.

Collier's back-to-back 3s eight minutes into the second half sparked a Wake Forest run that gave the Deacs their final lead of the game. The Washington, D.C. native's 5-10 performance beyond the arc was also a career record.

Clemson regained the lead for the last time with seven minutes to play, netting eight unanswered points to take a 69-64 advantage.

Tiger free throws stretched the lead in the final minutes of the game to give Clemson the final 85-73 win.

The Demon Deacons look to rebound with two upcoming road games. The first on Thursday against Florida State at 7 p.m. and the second contest against Boston College on Sunday at 2 p.m.
