Deacons Open 2008 Baseball Season Friday

Wake Forest will open the 2008 baseball season on Friday with the first contest of a four-game series with Pepperdine in Malibu. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. EST.

The Deacons will send Ben Hunter (8-6, 4.07) to the mound to face Pepperdine's Brett Hunter (6-5, 3.94) in the series opener.

The series continues with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. EST. Sunday's series finale is slated for a 4:00 p.m. EST start.

There is a 40% chance of rain for the weekend in Malibu, Calif.

Wake Forest is coming off a 34-29 season in which the Deacons reached the title game of the ACC Tournament and earned an invitation to the NCAA Regionals. Pepperdine, a member of the West Coast Athletic Conference, was 35-22 last year and also advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
