CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 22 Wake Forest will look to bounce back from a pair of disappointing road losses last week with a victory over ninth-ranked North Carolina on Wednesday in Chapel Hill at 3 p.m.
The match was originally set for Tuesday afternoon, but was rescheduled to avoid a conflict with the memorial service of late UNC student body president Eve Carson.
The Demon Deacons (9-5, 1-0) opened conference season with a nail-biting 4-3 win over North Carolina State on March 5 in Winston-Salem. The squad was unable to keep the momentum going when they hit the road for matches against No. 20 Texas A&M and No. 27 TCU, dropping both contests 4-3.
Wednesday's match will serve as the conference schedule kick-off for the Tar Heels (10-3), who are currently undefeated through the last six matches.
The last Wake Forest win over North Carolina was in March of 2006. The Deacs handed the previously undefeated Tar Heels a 4-3 loss in Chapel Hill, marking the first WFU win in the series since 1988.
Live stats for the match will be available here: http://tarheelblue.cstv.com/sports/m-tennis/stats/08-live-stats.html.
This weekend Wake Forest will begin a six-match homestand, beginning with Maryland on Friday at 1 p.m.
