COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team improved to 3-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play on Saturday when they secured a 6-1 victory over Maryland in College Park. The Demon Deacons are now 7-5 overall, while the Terps stand at 3-10, 0-4.

Wake Forest opened the match by earning its fourth consecutive doubles point. Sasha Kulikova/Sierra Poske was the first Demon Deacon tandem to finish, defeating Michal Amir and Lisa Miller 8-6. Christian Tara and Ana Jerman followed with an 8-5 win over Karin Lundmark and Julia Huschke.

Kulikova improved to 11-0 at No. 2 singles when she held Lundmark to just one game though two sets (6-1, 6-0). The Moscow, Russia native is now 11-1 during dual match season and 22-6 for the year.

Christian Tara notched her fourth consecutive singles win at No. 3, taking down Maggie MacKeever 6-1, 6-3 to put Wake Forest up 3-0 in College Park. Freshman Katarina Reveche sealed the Demon Deacon victory, posting a 6-3, 7-5 decision at No. 6.

At No. 1, after battling 101st-ranked Michal Amir to a 10-8 tiebreaker win in the first set, Wake's Alex Hirsch shut down the Terrapin competitor in the second set, taking a 6-0 win.

Wake junior Ana Jerman returned to singles action for the first time this season following her hand surgery in the fall. After falling 6-2 in the first set to Lisa Miller, Jerman retired with a 4-3 deficit. It was Maryland's only singles win of the afternoon.

The Deacons will continue road play on Monday when they face Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. at 12 p.m.
