The No. 9 Wake Forest women's golf team shot an 18-over 306 in the final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate in Athens, Ga. to finish the event in eighth place and break a string of consecutive top three finishes.
The Deacs were aiming for their third straight finish in the top three on the par-72, 6,335-yard University Golf Course.
Allie Bodemann shot a three-over 75 to match her second round output and finish in sole possession of 14th place. The finish is the second-best of the year for Bodemann and gives the freshman her third top 20 finish of the season. Bodemann finished the tournament with a three-round total of 228 (+12).
Junior Nannette Hill finished tied for 24th after posting a six-over 78 in the final round. Hill recorded a three-day total of 232 (+16) and missed a top 20 finish for the first time since the Lady Tar Heel in October.
Natalie Sheary jumped eight spots from the second round to finish tied for 33rd. The freshman carded a four-over 76 and posted a 233 (+17) for the event. Sheary missed a top 20 finish for just the third time in the eight events she has participated in as a Deacon.
Laura Crawford shot a seven-over 79 for the final round. The senior recorded a 236 (+20) for the three day event and finished tied for 43rd.
Junior Jean Chua shot her best round Sunday, a five-over 77, but still tied for 67th with a three-day total of 241 (+25).
Hill, Chua and Bodemann posted two birdies apiece to lead the Deacs in that category.
Tournament host Georgia won the Liz Murphey after defeating Purdue two holes into a playoff to decide the champion.
The win is the 13th for the Bulldogs on their home course.
Two Boilermakers shared the individual title as Christel Boeljon and Maria Hernandez finished the weekend at 218 (+2).
Wake will return to action March 28-30 in the Bryan Park National Collegiate, an event the Deacs will co-host with UNC Greensboro for the 11th time.
