Parr, Forman Collect All-ACC Honors

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - Cory Parr and Steven Forman of the Wake Forest men's tennis team were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference squad for their stellar performances in the 2008 regular season.
Parr, a junior out of Jericho, N.Y., currently ranks 44th in the nation and holds a 7-4 conference singles record playing at Nos. 1 and 2. On April 6, Parr posted his highest upset of the season, taking down Miami's fifth-ranked Daniel Vallverdu in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) at No. 1. Parr is a two-time All-Conference honoree, having also received recognition in 2007 for his standout performance playing behind All-American Todd Paul in the singles lineup at No. 2.

In addition to their standout singles marks, Parr and Forman recently cracked the ITA's doubles top ten. The tandem, ranked ninth in the nation, is 6-3 in ACC doubles and 14-7 in dual match play. On March 19, Parr and Forman nailed a massive 8-3 upset over North Carolina's Taylor Fogleman/Chirs Kearney, ranked fourth by the ITA, in Chapel Hill.
Forman, Parr and the rest of the Wake Forest squad is getting set to begin action in the ACC Tournament on Friday. Having received a first round bye, the fourth-seeded Demon Deacons will battle Virginia Tech at 12 p.m. in the second round of the tournament. The No. 5-seed Hokies topped 12th-seeded Clemson 4-3 on Thursday.
