WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Webb Simpson has been named to the Jack Nicklaus Award Watch List, the award given to the top collegiate golfers of the year in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA.
The last Demon Deacon golfer to win the Nicklaus Award was Bill Haas in 2004.
This marks the first year a watch list for the Nicklaus Award has been compiled. Previously, the award winner was determined by the All-America selection committee. A Nicklaus Award selection committee was created this year.
Winners from all four divisions will be named immediately following the final round of each respective national championship. All four Nicklaus Award honorees will be invited to Murfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, just outside Nicklaus' hometown of Columbus to receive their trophies from the award's namesake.
A 20-player All-Nicklaus team will be announced on June 10. The nominees for Divison I are listed below.
