CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The top-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team posted its first shutout of 2008 with a 4-0 victory over Ohio on Saturday afternoon at the University of Virginia.
With the win, Wake Forest is now 7-0 for the year while Ohio is 2-4. The Demon Deacons will continue play on Sunday when they face Davidson College in Davidson, N.C. at 3 p.m.
Wake Forest out-shot the Bobcats 12-4, holding the team shotless during the entire second half.
Hilary Moore led the Wake Forest attack, posting two goals in the victory. Moore is the team's leading scorer, netting seven goals through seven games.
Melissa Martin had the only goal in the first half of the contest, teaming up with Minou Grimbrere. Gimbrere also recorded a second assist, helping Moore in the opening goal of the second half. Gimbrere now has seven assists for 2008.
Kim Romansky registered her fifth goal of the season ten minutes into the second half, assisted by Moore. Michelle Kasold assisted in Moore's final goal of the game, setting the score at 4-0.
