FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The Wake Forest women's golf team carded a final round 302 Sunday and would finish 14th at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
The Deacons opened the championship with a 300 in round one and finished with rounds of 301 and 302.
Sophomore Natalie Sheary was the top Demon Deacon finisher as she finished tied for 31st after rounds of 71-76-75. Her final round featured three birdies and six bogies. She finished the weekend with a total of eight birdies and an eagle.
Senior's Jean Chua and Nannette Hill both shot a 2-over 74 in the third round. Chua opened with a 77 but responded with an even-par round yesterday. She was even par with one hole to play today but a double on the last hole gave her a 74. Chua finished the tournament tied for 35th.
Hill, who also opened with a 77, carded a 37 on both nines on Sunday. She doubled 11 and bogied 15 but an eagle on the par-5 18th allowed her to turn at 1-over. Hill would then post a birdie and two bogies on the front nine to finish the tournament at 11-over and in a tie for 50th.
Freshman Cheyenne Woods struggled on Sunday, carding her highest round of the tournament at 83. She opened with a 75 and a 77 and would finish in 76th place.
Allie Bodemann finished the tournament at 21-over after a final round 79.
UCLA carded a 277 in the second round and followed that with a 286 on Sunday to win the team title by six shots over rival USC.
In the individual race, UCLA's Sydnee Michaels made five birdies and no bogies in the final round to claim medalist honors by four shots at 11-under par.
The Deacons will have a quick turn around as they will be back in action next weekend at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. The 54-hole tournament is set to begin on Friday, Oct. 3.
