WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 18th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team will play Duke on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Durham, N.C. The Demon Deacons opened conference season last weekend on the road, defeating Boston College and Maryland.
Wake Forest is now 12-5 and 2-0 in the ACC. No. 28 Duke will enter Wednesday's match with an 8-5, 1-2 record. The Deacons have won their last two matches against the Blue Devils but trail 7-37 since the series began in 1971.
Last season Wake Forest hosted the Duke in a 4-3 thriller that came down to the final match. Deacon Andrew Brasseaux clinched the win at No. 6 with a 6-1, 7-6(5) victory over Jared Pinsky.
This year Duke is led at the top of the lineup by senior Reid Carleton, a sophomore out of Naples, Florida. Carleton is 4-6 at No. 1 singles and 16-10 since the fall.
Wake Forest will play three more road matches after Duke before returning to Winston-Salem to host Florida State on Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m.
