Women's Tennis Falls Short Against No. 5 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team lost 7-0 to No. 5 Duke on Wednesday afternoon. The team will look to rebound when they finish out the regular season this weekend at Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Katarina Reveche, Ryann Cutillo, Christian Tara and Sasha Kulikova all lost close first sets to open singles play. Sasha Kulikova won her second set against 31st-ranked Mallory Cicil but had to play a super tiebreaker for the third set since Duke had already clinched the win. Cicil posted a 10-5 win to finish the match.
Christian Tara had a close 6-4, 6-4 loss to No. 75 Amanda Granson at No. 3. Cutillo and Reveche both fell 6-1 in their second sets. Sierra Poske and Emilee Malvehy both faced opponents ranked in the ITA's Top 40. The two Deacons were unable to breakthrough with a set win.
The Deacons are 12-9 and 3-6 in the ACC following the match and Duke improved to 18-3, 8-1.
