COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Wake Forest doubles team of senior Cory Parr and junior Steven Forman advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Tournament with a straight-sets defeat of Oklahoma State's Nathan Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyesov on Friday afternoon at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Forman and Parr earned a 7-5, 6-3 defeat of Byrnes and Nedovyesov to post their eighth straight doubles win dating back to Wake Forest's regular season finale against Virginia Tech.
Forman and Parr, who are seeded in the top eight of the bracket, now advance to the final eight of the doubles draw. The tandem will face the second-seeded team of Davey Sandgren and John-Patrick Smith of Tennessee on Saturday afternoon.
Forman and Parr will be playing in their second straight NCAA doubles quarterfinals. Last season, the duo made it to the final eight before bowing out to Bram ten Berge and Matthias Wellermann of Ole Miss.
Wake Forest has had a doubles team in the NCAA quarterfinals each of the past three seasons. In 2007, Todd Paul and Mariusz Adamski made it all the way to the NCAA doubles final four.
Forman and Parr won their opening round doubles match on Thursday, defeating Kentucky's Bruno Agostinelli and Brad Cox 6-3, 7-6 (5).
The semifinals of the doubles draw are scheduled for Sunday, May 24, with the championship match on Monday.
